Emerald Pan-tone Color of the Year 2013

According to Color Psychology, green is the color of balance and harmony. It is also the color of growth, hope, spring, of renewal and rebirth. It is the sanctuary away from the stresses of modern living, restoring us back to a sense of well being. It is an emotionally positive color, giving us the ability to love and nurture ourselves and others unconditionally.

photoHere are some ways to add Emerald to any room. If your room is mostly neutrals you can add these gorgeous tables by Century as a focal point to the room. Another easy way to add emerald would be to order new pillows. Since Emerald is one of the image_2predominate colors in nature, Emerald is everywhere in landscape art.

Emerald will pop against beiges, browns, grays and other neutrals. Emerald is also a great accent to blues and many pastels. In color theory Emerald’s complementary color is red. Used in small doses this works well. Be careful not to overdo it though or your friends may think you decorated your house for Christmas all year long. A good example to show how they can work together is shown in this chair by Wesley Hall.

From Where I Sit | Let’s Go to Leather School

“Once upon a time,” leather furniture was only available to an elite few. Not that my family was of the elite few, but I do recall my grandfather’s forest green English lounge chair. It was 1959, the leather was slick, cold, and – if  I  remember correctly – the chair was beginning to show its age, kind of like the old guy himself. But, man-oh-man, did that chair sit great! The chair was a wonderful item in his home, the fragrance of leather was unmistakable, and it left me with a lasting impression as to what luxury was. Continue reading
